அதயே-௭-சிரமத் பாகவத் கிட்ட
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 1
Lord Krishna further explained:
Dear Arjuna, with your mind fully absorbed in thoughts of Me and in the practice of Yoga as well, with total reliance on Me alone, listen to the secret of how to really know Me in entirety.
श्रीभगवान् बोले —- हे पार्थ ! अनन्य प्रेम से मुझ में आसक्त्त चित्त तथा अनन्य भाव से मेरे परायण होकर योग में लगा हुआ तू जिस प्रकार से सम्पूर्ण विभूति, बल, ऐश्वर्यादि गुणों से युक्त्त, सबके आत्म रूप मुझ को संशयरहित जानेगा, उसको सुन ।। १ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 2
After I divulge this secret to you, the knowledge you will have attained from this secret of the Supreme (God) will make all other knowledge seem worthless for you, O Arjuna.
मैं तेरे लिये इस विज्ञान सहित तत्त्व ज्ञान को सम्पूर्णतया कहूँगा, जिसको जानकर संसार में फिर और कुछ भी जानने योग्य शेष नहीं रह जाता ।। २ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 3
It is very difficult to know Me fully in reality, dear Arjuna. Out of thousands of people, only a few special ones (Yogis or divine devotees) try to realize Me. Even out of those perfect people trying to realize Me, only a few succeed in doing so. Hardly anybody know My reality.
हजारों मनुष्यों में कोई एक मेरी प्राप्ति के लिये यत्न करता है और उन यत्न करने वाले योगियों में भी कोई एक मेरे परायण होकर मुझ को तत्त्व से अर्थात् यथार्थ रूप से जानता है ।। ३ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 4,5
My nature,dear Arjuna, is formed by eight elements, namely, earth, fire, wind, water, sky, mind, intellect and ego.
O Arjuna, understand that the elements I have just mentioned to you are only part of My lower nature. The other part of Me is My higher nature, which preserves the universe.
पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश, मन, बुद्भि और अहंकार भी —- इस प्रकार यह आठ प्रकार से विभाजित मेरी प्रकृति है । यह आठ प्रकार के भेदों वाली तो अपरा अर्थात् मेरी जड़ प्रकृति है और हे महाबाहो ! इससे दूसरी को, जिससे यह सम्पूर्ण जगत् धारण किया जाता है, मेरी जीव रूपा परा अर्थात् चेतन प्रकृति जान ।। ४ – ५।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 6
The Lord spoke solemnly:
O Arjuna, you must understand that I have created all beings in these two aspects of my nature. Arjuna, Know Me as both the creator and the destroyer of the world.
हे अर्जुन ! तू ऐसा समझ कि सम्पूर्ण भूत इन दोनों प्रकृतियों से ही उत्पन्न होने वाले हैं और मैं सम्पूर्ण जगत् का प्रभव तथा प्रलय हूँ अर्थात् सम्पूर्ण जगत् का मूल कारण हूँ ।। ६ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 7
Arjuna, there is in reality absolutely nothing else but Me, I am all there is in this whole universe and everything is threaded into Me like the pearls in a necklace.
हे धनञ्जय ! मुझ से भिन्न दूसरा कोई भी परम कारण नहीं है । यह सम्पूर्ण जगत् सूत्र में सूत्र के मनियों के सदृश मुझ में गुंथा हुआ है ।। ७ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 8
Dear Arjuna, I am the essence (the life) of water. I am the light in the Moon and the Sun; I am the “OM” in all of the Vedas (Holy Scriptures of the Hindu Religion). I am the sound and vibrations in the sky and the manliness in all men.
हे अर्जुन ! मैं जल में रस हूँ, चन्द्रमा और सूर्य में प्रकाश हूँ, सम्पूर्ण वेदों में ओंकार हूँ, आकाश में शब्द और पुरुषों में पुरुषत्व हूँ ।। ८ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 9
I am the aroma (fragrance) in the earth, the radiance in the fire. I am “life” in all beings, and I represent the sacrifice in all religious and sacrificial ceremonies.
मैं पृथ्वी में पवित्र गन्ध और अग्नि में तेज हूँ तथा सम्पूर्ण भूतों में उनका जीवन हूँ और तपस्वियों में तप हूँ ।। ९ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 10
Arjuna, know Me; I am the core of all beings. I am the intelligence in the intelligent, and I represent the valour in the valiant men of this world.
हे अर्जुन ! तू सम्पूर्ण भूतों का सनातन बीज मुझको ही जान । मैं बुद्बिमानों की बुद्भि और तेजस्वियों का तेज हूँ।। १० ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 11
Arjuna, my dear devotee, I am the strength in those that are strong and who are free from desire and attachment. I am the controlled, passion in all beings not contrary to Dharma.
हे भरत श्रेष्ठ ! मैं बलवानों का आसक्त्ति और कामनाओं से रहित बल अर्थात् सामर्थ्य हूँ और सब भूतों में धर्म के अनुकूल अर्थात् शास्त्र के अनुकूल काम हूँ ।। ११ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 12
Arjuna, I am also all the thoughts borne out of Sattvik (pure), Rajasik (high activity) and Tamasik (evil) elements that surround this world. Consider them all as created by Me. However, always remember, I am neither in them, nor are they in me.
और भी जो सत्त्व गुण से उत्पन्न होने वाले भाव हैं और जो रजोगुण से तथा तमोगुण से होने वाले भाव हैं, उन सबको तू ‘मुझ से ही होने वाले हैं‘ ऐसा जान । परन्तु वास्तव में उन में मैं और वे मुझ में नहीं हैं ।। १२ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 13
The whole universe, o Son of Kunti, is deluded by the Sattvik, Rajasik, and Tamasik Gunas (Components or Parts of nature). However,the truth is that I, the Supreme, Imperishable God, am above all of these Gunas.
गुणों के कार्य रूप सात्त्विक, राजस और तामस —- इन तीनों प्रकार के भावों से यह सारा संसार—-प्राणि- समुदाय मोहित हो रहा है, इसीलिये इन तीनों गुणों से परे मुझ अविनाशी को नहीं जानता ।। १३ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 14
Because My divine nature (many) consisting of these three parts, is very powerful,only those who continuously worship me, rise above these three Gunas (parts of nature) and cease to be deluded by them.
क्योंकि यह अलौकिक अर्थात् अति अद्बूत त्रिगुणमयी मेरी माया बड़ी दुस्तर है ; परन्तु जो पुरुष केवल मुझको ही निरन्तर भजते हैं, वे इस माया को उल्लंघन कर जाते हैं, अर्थात् संसार से तर जाते हैं ।। १४ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 15
Those who have lost their Gyan (wisdom) because of the pursuit of power (maya) and those who are evil in nature and are constantly engaged in evil deeds, do not worship Me, O Arjuna.
माया के द्वारा जिनका ज्ञान हरा जा चुका है ऐसे आसुर स्वभाव को धारण किये हुए मनुष्यों में नीच, दूषित कर्म करने वाले मूढ़ लोग मुझको नहीं भजते ।। १५ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 16
In this world there are only four types of pure and divine (pious) people who worship Me,dear Arjuna; those in distress, the seekers of knowledge and wisdom, the wise (Yogis) and those who desire material wealth.
हे भरत वंशियों में श्रेष्ठ अर्जुन ! उत्तम कर्म करने वाले अर्थार्थी, आर्त्त, जिज्ञासु, और ज्ञानी — ऐसे चार प्रकार के भक्त्त जन मुझ को भजते हैं ।। १६ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 17
Among all of these, O Arjuna, only the wise who are always thinking of Me with true love and devotion, are special and dear to Me, and I am dear to them as well.
उनमें नित्य मुझमें एकीभाव से स्थित अनन्य प्रेम भक्त्ति वाला ज्ञानी भक्त्त अति उत्तम है ; क्योंकि मुझको तत्त्व से जानने वाले ज्ञानी को मैं अत्यन्त प्रिय हूँ और वह ज्ञानी मुझे अत्यन्त प्रिय हैं ।। १७ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 18
Although all of those who worship Me,Arjuna, are dear and sublime to Me, But because I regard a Gyani (man of wisdom) or Yogi to be of my own image, that Yogi will always reside in Me, the Almighty.
ये सभी उदार हैं, परन्तु ज्ञानी तो साक्षात् मेरा स्वरूप ही है —- ऐसा मेरा मत है ; क्योंकि वह मदगत मन बुद्भि वाला ज्ञानी भक्त्त अति उत्तम गति स्वरूप मुझ में ही अच्छी प्रकार स्थित है ।। १८ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 19
A Gyani or wise man who worship Me with great love and devotion during many or all of his birth, truly realizes Me as the “be-all” and the “end-all”. And he is considered by Me to be a great sage.
बहुत जन्मों के अन्त के जन्म में तत्त्व ज्ञान को प्राप्त पुरुष, सब कुछ वासुदेव ही है —- इस प्रकार मुझको भजता है, वह महात्मा अत्यन्त दुर्लभ है ।। १९ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 20
Driven by the desires which exist in their nature, ignorant people worship other Deities with rituals.
उन-उन भोगों की कामना द्वारा जिनका ज्ञान हरा जा चुका है, वे लोग अपने स्वभाव से प्रेरित होकर उस-उस नियम को धारण करके अन्य देवताओं को भजते हैं अर्थात् पूजते हैं ।। २० ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 21
Whichever god (deity) a person wishes to worship with faith, O Arjuna, I am the one who establishes or builds his faith in that deity.
जो-जो सकाम भक्त्त जिस-जिस देवता के स्वरूप को श्रद्बा से पूजना चाहता है, उस-उस भक्त्त की श्रद्बा को मैं उसी देवता के प्रति स्थिर करता हूँ ।। २१ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 22
Thus, once these people have been given their faith by Me, the devotees try to worship the deities they choose to worship, and they ultimately achieve their desires as ordered and directed by Me, the Deity of deities
वह पुरुष उस श्रद्बा से युक्त्त होकर उस देवता का पूजन करता है और उस देवता से मेरे द्वारा ही विधान किये हुए उन इच्छित भोगों को नि:संदेह प्राप्त करता है ।। २२ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 23
The Lord said solemnly:
But the reward of those ignorant people who worship other deities is only temporary. Those who worship other deities go to those deities after death but those who worship Me, attain Me, and come to Me.
परन्तु उन अल्प बुद्भि वालों का वह फल नाशवान् है तथा वे देवताओं को पूजने वाले देवताओं को प्राप्त होते हैं और मेरे भक्त्त चाहे जैसे ही भजें, अन्त में वे मुझको ही प्राप्त होते हैं ।। २३ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 24
Dear Arjuna, those people who have little intelligence fail to regard Me as the Supreme, indestructible, the Almighty, and unmanifest (not readily perceived by the senses); instead, they regard Me as a mere mortal and ordinary human being.
बुद्भि हीन पुरुष मेरे अनुत्तम अविनाशी परम भाव को न जानते हुए मन इन्द्रियों से परे मुझ सच्चिदानन्दधन परमात्मा को मनुष्य की भाँति जन्म कर व्यक्त्ति भाव को प्राप्त हुआ मानते हैं ।। २४ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 25
Shrouded by My own Yogmaya (divine powers), I am not visible to everybody. Those who are ignorant, however, do not know Me as unborn and indestructible (eternal). They will never be able to see Me, O Arjuna. Only those who are dear and devoted to Me, see Me.
अपनी योग माया से छिपा हुआ मैं सबके प्रत्यक्ष नहीं होता, इसलिये यह अज्ञानी जन समुदाय मुझ जन्म रहित अविनाशी परमेश्वर को नहीं जानता अर्थात् मुझको जन्मने मरने वाला समझता है ।। २५ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 26
O Arjuna, although I know of every single being who was in the past, who is at the present, and who will be in the future, nobody really knows Me
हे अर्जुन ! पूर्व में व्यतीत हुए और वर्तमान में स्थित तथा आगे होने वाले सब भूतों को मैं जानता हूँ, परन्तु मुझको कोई भी श्रद्बा भक्त्ति रहित पुरुष नहीं जानता ।। २६ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 27
Arjuna, in this world, most beings are confused and deluded by the doubts created by desire and envy, and they become victims of ignorance and Agyan (lack of wisdom).
हे भरत वंशी अर्जुन ! संसार में इच्छा और द्बेष से उत्पन्न सुख-दुःखादि द्बन्द्ब रूप मोह से सम्पूर्ण प्राणी अत्यन्त अज्ञता को प्राप्त हो रहे हैं ।। २७ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 28
O Arjuna, there are, however, some pious people whose sins have been destroyed and are free from all worldly attachments, who worship Me with a firm, undeluded mind.
परन्तु निष्काम भाव से श्रेष्ठ कर्मों का आचरण करने वाले जिन पुरुषों का पाप नष्ट हो गया है, वे राग द्बेष जनित द्बन्द्ब रूप मोह से मुक्त्त दृढ़ निश्चयी भक्त्त मुझ को सब प्रकार से भजते हैं ।। २८ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 29
Arjuna, those who make an effort to attain Me and take refuge in Me, achieve deliverance from old age and death, and they also fully understand Brahma, (the infinite never-ending) Adhyatma (self) and all Karma (actions) in this world.
जो मेरे शरण होकर जरा और मरण से छूटने के लिये यत्न करते हैं, वे पुरुष उस ब्रह्म को, सम्पूर्ण अध्यात्म को, सम्पूर्ण कर्म को जानते हैं ।। २९ ।।
Chapter – 7 – Shloka – 30
Only those wise men (Yogis) who truly know Me as being above all elements of the world (Adhibhutha), above all Deities, and above all sacrifices, experience Me even at the end of their existence on earth (death), and they ultimately attain Me, the Supreme Soul.
जो पुरुष अधिभूत और अधिदैव के सहित तथा अधियज्ञ के सहित (सब का आत्म रूप ) मुझे अन्तकाल में भी जानते हैं, वे युक्त्त चित्त वाले पुरुष मुझे जानते हैं अर्थात् प्राप्त हो जाते हैं ।। ३०।।
